New hotel to open in the Northern Cape
Country Hotels, one of the most prominent hospitality portfolios in the Northern Cape, is increasing its offering with the opening of Upington Inn on September 15.
Country Hotels CEO, André Thirion – who was raised in the Northern Cape – commented: “The Northern Cape captures a special place in my heart and it has been a lifelong dream to create a range of hotels that I can share with the world.”
All the facilities of the new Upington Inn, previously known as Naba Lodge, have been extensively refurbished. There are now 38 rooms and suites, as well as the newly built sunset deck.
The conference and event facilities cater for private functions, including weddings. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and can accommodate up to 120 guests.
Craig Carmichael, COO of Country Hotels, said: “With our footprint of hotels and inns in the Northern Cape, Upington, being strategically positioned with an international airport, gives Upington Inn easy access to the ‘Green Kalahari’ and the rest of our hotels.”
Eben Lassen, Director of Thefinecollection.co, which manages Country Hotels’ sales and marketing, said Upington Inn was sure to be popular with both leisure and corporate travellers. “Having recently explored Country Hotels’ properties in the Northern Cape, we are excited with the potential of this beautiful region of South Africa, and are working towards creating exciting new events to showcase the region and its beauty.”
Country Hotels’ portfolio includes properties in Clanwilliam, Vioolsdrift, Springbok, Calvinia, Pofadder, Kakamas, Kathu, Kuruman and Postmasburg.
