​Activities:  In the wild expanse of the Kalahari the game farm Zoutpanputs offers the keen lover of nature many an enticing opportunity. The farm offers more than 50 species of birds that should keep the keen birder busy for days.  The abundant birdlife of the Kalahari can be experienced all round: in trees such as the camelthorn, grey camelthorn, sheperd’s tree, black thorn and silver cluster leaf, and the grass on the dunes.

We also offer camel rides - booking essential - and floating in a saltwater dam. Large herd of springbok and gemsbok (oryx) roam, often seen running or licking salt on the pans. A surprise sighting of rare creatures such as a pangolin could await the visitor over the next dune. Getting to know the meerkat families living around the lodge is a most entertaining pastime.

The Diamond T Coffee Shop building was originally erected by the SA Railways and used as a bus stop for the big, red Diamond T half buses that transported goods and passengers along the dusty routes to and from larger towns.  Here you can enjoy the best coffee shop drinks and home-baked goodies, freshly prepared by the owners.  The shop is also a treasure trove with beautiful, locally created arts and gifts, preserves, rusks, etc.  We caters for functions and provides sundowner picnic baskets.
